reesetee commented on the word tromba marina
A triangular bowed string instrument used in medieval and Renaissance Europe. The neck is shaped like a truncated cone resting on a triangular base. Rather than plucking the strings, the layer lightly touches them with the thumb at certain points. The name derives from its trumpet-like sound.
